INNOVATING LEGAL EDUCATION: MODERN PEDAGOGY FOR DISASTER RISK GOVERNANCE

As part of the Erasmus+ RiskGovEU project, from October 27-31, 2025, we hosted an inspiring and methodologically crucial session for our students led by Dr. Hamdullah Şahin from Anadolu University, Turkey.

Dr. Şahin provided vital insights into modern educational approaches, including Online Learning, Flipped Classroom, and Blended Learning. This training is essential for the RiskGovEU module, as these methods allow us to teach complex topics like EU Disaster Law and Risk Governance frameworks more effectively.

Why this matters for RiskGovEU:

  1. Effective Knowledge Transfer: Flipped classrooms and blended learning are perfect for handling the dense legal and technical content of the module, allowing for deeper analysis in class.
  2. Building Resilience: Disasters (like pandemics or floods) disrupt traditional education. Dr. Şahin’s session on time management and online platforms provided practical strategies for ensuring educational continuity, a key component of societal resilience.

By exploring these innovative teaching models, our project not only delivers high-level academic content on EU law but also builds a resilient and modern educational foundation for the next generation of disaster governance experts.
