Project Description
Τhe Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module "Strengthening Disaster Risk Governance Through EU Law" adopts a human-centered perspective on natural hazards, emphasizing the critical role of EU legal frameworks. It highlights the rights of those impacted by disasters, addressing the dual hardships they face: the immediate devastation of losing their life's work, resulting in economic and psychological trauma, and the long-term struggle to rebuild and recover.
The module comprises three interconnected teaching components:
- Traditional coursework offering foundational knowledge on disaster risk governance.
- An intensive, informal autumn/summer school program to deepen understanding and foster collaboration.
- A moot court competition focused on disaster law, providing practical, experiential learning opportunities.
